The Hut on Little Jumby Island: Antigua’s Most Exclusive Private Beach Club
Tucked away on the exclusive shores of Anitgua’s Little Jumby Island, The Hut—a luxurious beachfront retreat combining open-air dining, private cabanas, and signature beach huts—has been transformed with a custom-designed AV, lighting, and fan control system by Caribbean Entertainment Technologies (CET).
This immersive system blends performance, elegance, and discretion to enhance the sensory experience in each of the venue’s interconnected spaces. From background music that drifts across the coastline to intuitive lighting that shifts with the mood, CET’s integration elevates both form and function in a setting where every detail matters.
The client’s vision was to cultivate an atmosphere of vibrant serenity—where curated playlists, subtle lighting, and comfortable airflow enhance the guest experience without ever distracting from the surrounding natural beauty. To achieve this, CET designed a comprehensive yet invisible control system that allows staff to shape the environment with a simple tap.
The Hut’s audio system was split into distinct zones: the open-air restaurant and the surrounding huts and cabanas.
- Restaurant Zone: JBL Control 29AV premium loudspeakers were discreetly installed for full-range clarity, supported by a powerful ASB7128 Dual 18” Subwoofer to anchor the sound with rich bass. Audio is powered by ACLON DK416 four-channel digital amplifiers for clarity and reliability—even in coastal humidity.
- Huts & Cabanas: Outfitted with JBL Control HST wide-coverage speakers, fed by an Extron XPA amplifier and network-to-analog converters for consistent playback over IP.
- Landscaping Audio: Throughout the property’s garden paths and exteriors, JBL Control 88M mushroom speakers and GSB12 landscape subwoofers provide immersive, invisible music coverage.
Sources include BrightSign AU335 media players for scheduled playlists, a Denon Prime 4 DJ console for live sets, and Shure SLXD24D wireless microphones for announcements and events.
Lighting Control: Zoned Dimming with Designer Precision
Lighting was divided between architectural and ambient applications:
- Restaurant Lighting is controlled using Doug Fleenor Design DMX8DIM dimmers for smooth, flicker-free transitions across LED GU10 and E27 fixtures. An Enttec ODE MK2 DMX gateway enables Ethernet-based control.
- Peripheral Areas (reception, bathrooms, outdoor walls) rely on Crestron CLW-DIMEX wireless dimmers, seamlessly integrated into a Crestron Gateway for centralized, app-based access
Ceiling fans in the restaurant are managed by a Crestron DIN-AP4 processor, linked to CLX-1FAN4 modules housed in a Crestron CAEN-7X2 enclosure. The system delivers quiet, stable fan operation via convection-cooled architecture, designed for longevity in tropical environments.
Unified System Control: Touch, Tap, Tranquility
Control across all systems—audio, lighting, and fans—is unified under the Crestron ecosystem. Custom UIs were deployed via:
- iPads running the Crestron App
- A dedicated touchscreen PC using XPanel
This design empowers staff to manage every aspect of the environment through a clean, responsive interface created in collaboration with the client for intuitive, real-time operation.
Special Design Features & Finishing Touches
One standout detail: speaker finishes were custom color-matched to the venue’s rich wooden architecture, maintaining an unbroken visual harmony across all zones. This attention to aesthetic detail reinforced the immersive quality the client envisioned.
Client Feedback regarding CET’s Installation and Design
“The space feels more alive, yet more peaceful. Guests don’t notice the tech—but they feel the difference.”
